Question
Two quantities are
given as Quantity I and Quantity II. You have to determine the relationship between them and give the answer. Quantity I: A coaching batch has 36 learners with an average weight of 64 kg. The ratio of boys to girls is 2:1. If the boys’ average is 60 kg and the girls’ average is 'x' kg, find 'x'. Quantity II: The average weight of 26 basketball trainees is 'x' kg. When 2 trainees, each weighing 40 kg, leave the squad, the average drops by 1 kg. Find 'x'.Solution
ATQ, From Quantity I, Number of boys = 2/3 * 36 = 24 Number of girls = 36 - 24 = 12 36 * 64 = 24 * 60 + 12 * x 2304 = 1440 + 12x 12x = 864 x = 72 kg From Quantity II, 26x = 24(x - 1) + 40*2 26x = 24x - 24 + 80 26x = 24x + 56 2x = 56 x = 28 kg Hence, Quantity I > Quantity II
