      The ratio of the cost price to the marked price of a watch

      is 6:11. If a discount of 15% is given, the shopkeeper earns a profit of Rs. 240. Find the marked price of the watch.
      A Rs.641 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      B Rs.467 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      C Rs.504 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      D Rs.788 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

      Let the cost price of the watch be Rs. β€˜6x’ and the marked price be Rs. β€˜11x’.

      ATQ;

      Selling price of the watch = 11x Γ— 0.85 = Rs. β€˜9.35x’

      Profit = 9.35x – 6x = Rs. β€˜3.35x’

      So, 3.35x = 240

      Or, x = 71.64

      So, marked price of the watch = 11 Γ— 71.64 = Rs. 788
