    Question

The sum of two values, ‘m’ and ‘n’, is 400. When

‘m’ is decreased by 10% and ‘n’ is increased by 25%, both become equal. Find the value of ‘n’.
A 300 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 286.25 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 167.44 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 255 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    m + n = 400 ……(i)

    ATQ,

    0.90 × m = 1.25 × n

    Or, m = (1.25 / 0.90) × n

    So, m = (25n / 18)

Put the value of ‘m’ in equation (i), we get,

    (25n/18) + n = 400

    Or, (43n/18) = 400

    Or, n = 400 × (18/43)

    So, n = 167.44
