Question
Anita spends 18% of her monthly income on rent and 70% of
the rest on household expenditure. If she saves Rs. 1,890, then find her monthly income.Solution
ATQ,
Let the monthly income of Anita be Rs. 100b.
Money spent on rent = 18% of 100b = (0.18) × 100b = Rs. 18b
Remaining money = 100b – 18b = Rs. 82b
Money spent on household expenditure = 70% of 82b = (0.70) × 82 = Rs. 57.4b
Savings of Anita = 82b – 57.4b = Rs. 24.6b
So, 24.6b = 1,890
Or, ‘b’ = 76.8
Therefore, monthly income = Rs.7,680
