Let the salary be Rs.100x. Salary spent on entertainment and makeup together = 40% of 100x = 40x Salary spent on food = 10% of (100x – 40x) = 6x Remaining salary = 60x – 6x = 54x Salary invested in mutual funds = 50% of 54x = 27x Amount she spent on clothing = 8000 × (27x/40x) = Rs.5400
