Question
A man spends 25% and 11% of his monthly salary on rent
and transportation, respectively. Out of the remaining money, he spends 28% on food and 43% on entertainment. If he saves Rs. 3712, then find his monthly salary.Solution
Let the monthly salary of the man be Rs. ‘x’. Money spent on rent and transportation = (25 + 11)% of x = Rs. 0.36x Remaining money = (x – 0.36x) = Rs. 0.64x Money spent on food and entertainment = (28 + 43)% of 0.64x = Rs. 0.4544x Remaining money left = 0.64x – 0.4544x = 0.1856x So, 0.1856x = 3712 x = Rs. 20000
