    Rajesh spent 45% and 20% of his monthly salary on food

    and rent, respectively. Of the remaining amount, he gave 16% and 25% to his mother and brother, respectively. Find the amount spent by him on food, if the difference between the amount received by his brother and the amount spent on rent is Rs. 1125.

    Let the monthly salary of Rajesh be Rs. ‘x’ Amount spent on food = Rs. 0.45x Amount spent on rent = Rs. 0.20x Amount received by brother = (x - 0.45x - 0.20x) x 0.25 = 0.35x x 0.25 = 0.0875x So according to question: 0.20x - 0.0875x = 1125 0.1125x = 1125 x = 10000 So, the amount spent on food = 0.45 x 10000 = Rs. 4500
