300 litres of mixture ‘A’ contains milk and water
in it. If mixture ‘A’ is mixed with 600 litres of mixture ‘B’ which contains water and salt, then the ratio of quantity of milk, water and salt in the final mixture will be 2:7:6, respectively. Find the difference between quantity of water in mixture ‘A’ and mixture ‘B’.Solution
Total quantity of mixture = 300 + 600 = 900 litres Quantity of milk in final mixture = (2/15) × 900 = 120 litres Quantity of water in mixture ‘A’ = 300 − 120 = 180 litres Quantity of salt in mixture ‘B’ = (6/15) × 900 = 360 litres Quantity of water in mixture ‘B’ = 600 − 360 = 240 litres Required difference = 240 − 180 = 60 litres
