Question
Alloys 'C' and 'D' contain gold to silver in the ratio
of 6:5 and 4:3 respectively. If 110 grams of C and 105 grams of D are mixed together, then find the ratio of gold to silver in the final mixture.Solution
Quantity of gold in 110 grams 'C' = 110 × (6/11) = 60 grams
Quantity of silver in 110 grams 'C' = 110 - 60 = 50 grams
Quantity of gold in 105 grams 'D' = 105 × (4/7) = 60 grams
Quantity of silver in 105 grams 'D' = 105 - 60 = 45 grams
So, required ratio = (60 + 60) : (50 + 45) = 120 : 95 = 24:19
