Question
Mixture βCβ of alcohol and water contains alcohol and water in ratio 7:3, respectively. What will be the ratio of alcohol to water in mixture βCβ when quantity of alcohol and water equal to 10% and 30% of the initial quantity of alcohol and water in mixture βCβ, respectively is added to it?
Solution
Let the quantity of alcohol and water in mixture βCβ initially be 7x litres and 3x litres, respectively.
Required ratio = {7x + 0.1 Γ 7x}:{3x + 0.3 Γ 3x} = 7.7x : 3.9x = 77:39
