    milk, which is (x + 55) litres less than the quantity of water. If the total quantity of water in the mixture is 105 litres, find the ratio of milk to water.

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Quantity of water in the mixture = x + 25 + x + 55 = (2x + 80) litres

    Therefore, 2x + 80 = 105

    Or, 2x = 25

    Or, x = 12.5

    Therefore, quantity of milk in the mixture = x + 25 = 37.5 litres

    Required ratio = 37.5 : 105 = 5 : 14
