      Question

In a vessel, the ratio of milk to water is 4:3. After

removing 105 ml of mixture and adding 210 ml of water, the quantity of water becomes 125% more than milk. Find the original quantity of the mixture.
A 254 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 145 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 350 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 256 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

Let the amount of milk and water in the original mixture be 4x ml and 3x ml respectively.

      Amount of milk in 105 ml of mixture = 4/7 Γ— 105 = 60 ml

      Amount of water in 105 ml of mixture = 105 – 60 = 45 ml

      According to the question:

      (3x – 45 + 210) = 2.25 Γ— (4x – 60)

      Or, 3x + 165 = 9x – 135

      Or, 6x = 300

      Or, x = 50

      Original quantity of mixture = 7x = 7 Γ— 50 = 350 ml
