Question
There is 84 litres of a liquid mixture containing syrup and
water, in which syrup is three times the quantity of water. If 24 litres of this mixture is taken out and 12 litres of pure water is added, then what percent is the quantity of water in the final mixture with respect to syrup?Solution
ATQ,
Let the quantity of syrup and water in the mixture initially be 3b litres and b litres respectively.
Ratio of syrup to water = 3b : b = 3 : 1
After removing 24 litres of the mixture,
Quantity of mixture left = 60 litres
Quantity of syrup left = 60 × (3/4) = 45 litres
Quantity of water = 60 - 45 = 15 litres
Quantity of water after addition of 12 litres = 15 + 12 = 27 litres
Required percentage = (27 / 45) × 100 = 60%
