    • Question

A cuboid is formed by joining two identical cubes. If the

total surface area of each cube is 216 cm², determine the total surface area of the newly formed cuboid.
A 330 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 250 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 432 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 350 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

Let the length of each edge of the cube = ‘a’ cm

      So, 6 × a² = 216

      So, a² = 36

      Or, a = 6

      So, length of the cuboid = 2 × a = 2 × 6 = 12 cm

      Width of the cuboid = a = 6 cm

And, height of the cuboid = a = 6 cm

      Desired area = 2 × (6 × 6 + 6 × 12 + 6 × 12) = 2 × 216 = 432 cm²
