      Question

If the two adjacent sides of a rectangle are x cm and x

      – 10 cm and its perimeter is 124 cm then find its area?
A 551 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 759 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 936 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 816 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Let the length and breadth of rectangle = x and x – 10 cm Perimeter of rectangle = 2 x [Length + Breadth] According to the question Perimeter of rectangle = 124 cm ⇒ 2 x [Length + Breadth] = 124 ⇒  x + x – 10 = 62  ⇒ Length =  x = 36 cm Breadth = (x – 10) = 26 cm Area of rectangle = Length x Breadth Area of rectangle = 36 x 26 Area of rectangle = 936 cm²
