Question
By selling a product for Rs 540 how much profit was
earned? I. 25% profit would have been earned if it had been sold for Rs 450. II. The profit was one fourth of the purchase price. Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer –Solution
From I. 450 ≡ 125% ∴ 540 ≡ 125/450× 540 = 150% ∴ Profit = 450/125× 50 = Rs 180 From II. Profit is 1/4 of cost price ⇒ CP:Profit : SP = 4:1:5 ∴ 5 ≡ 540 1 ≡ 540/5 = Rs 108 So, either I or II is sufficient to answer the question.
