C The data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D The data given in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E The data in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

ATQ, Let, the savings of Bheem and expenditure of Ajay be Rs. x From statement I: Total incomes of Ajay and Bheem = Rs. 80000 So, data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question. From statement II: Let the savings of ‘Ajay’ be Rs. ‘y’ Therefore, expenditure of Bheem = Rs. 3y So, data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question. Combining statement I and II x + y + x + 3y = 80000….. (1) x + y = 30000 …. (2) On solving equation (1) and (2), we get x = Rs. 20000 and y = Rs. 10000 Therefore, income of Bheem = 3y + x = Rs. 50000 Therefore, data in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
