Question
A boat covers (x – 20) km upstream in the same time it
covers (2x – 95) km downstream. If the speed of the boat and stream are 15 km/h and 3 km/h respectively, find the value of ‘x’.Solution
ATQ,
(x – 20)/(15 – 3) = (2x – 95)/(15 + 3)
(x – 20)/12 = (2x – 95)/18
18x – 360 = 24x – 1140
6x = 780 → x = 130
So, the value of ‘x’ is 130 km.
