    ATQ, we can say that  Speed of water is  = x km/hr speed of boat in still water is  = 4x km/hr  Upstream speed = 12 km/hr  3x = 12  x = 4  Speed of boat in still water = 16 km/hr  Required distance in 3 hours = 16 x 3 = 48 km
