Upstream speed = 231/7 = 33 km/h Downstream speed = 387/9 = 43 km/h Speed of boat in still water = (33 + 43)/2 = 38 km/h  Speed of stream = (43 – 33)/2 = 5 km/h Increased speed of boat in still water = 38 + 4 = 42 km/h Decreased speed of stream = 5 – 2 = 3 km/h Required time taken = 546/(42 – 3) + 495/(43 + 3) = 14 + 11 = 25 hours
