Question
Rohit Sharma has an average score of 80 runs in 150
innings. The highest runs scored by him in an innings exceed his lowest score by 200 runs. If the runs scored in these two innings are removed, then his average decreases by 2. Find the highest runs scored by him in an innings.Solution
ATQ;
Let the highest and lowest runs scored by Rohit Sharma be βxβ and βyβ respectively.
Total runs scored by him in 150 innings = 150 Γ 80 = 12000
Runs scored by him in 148 innings = (80 - 2) Γ 148 = 78 Γ 148 = 11544
So, x + y = 12000 β 11544 = 456
And, x β y = 200
So, x = (456 + 200)/2 = 328
