of food and women eat on an average 45 kg of food. The men and women are equal in number. A woman joined the family for dinner and the average consumption became 55. How much did woman eat (in kgs)?Solution
As men and women are equal so , there are 5 women and 5 men so, total consumption will be 65 × 5 = 325 (by men) and 45 × 5 = 225 (by women)
Total consumption = 550 kg
But after including a woman the average consumption for 11 people is given to be 55.
So the total consumption will be 55 × 11 = 605 kg
So, woman’s consumption will be = 605 – 550 = 55 kg
