If (a 2 + 1/a 2 ) = 66, then find the value of (a 3 – 1/a 3 ).
Solution
Since, (a 2 + 1/a 2 ) = 66
So, a + 1/a = √(66 – 2) = 8
So, (a 3 – 1/a 3 ) = 8 3 + 3 × 8 = 512 + 24 = 536
