      Question

Four years ago from now, ratio of ages of two friends

'A' and 'B' was 3:4 respectively. If sum of their present ages is 50 years, then find the present age of 'C' whose present age is 25% less than that of 'B'.
A 18 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 21 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 24 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 20 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

Let the ages of 'A' and 'B', four years ago from now was '3a' and '4a' years respectively.

      So, 3a + 4 + 4a + 4 = 50

      Or, 7a = 42

      Or, 'a' = 6

      So, present age of 'B' = 4 x 6 + 4 = 28 years

      Therefore, present age of 'C' = (75/100) x 28 = 21 years
