Question
Five years ago, age of P was 15 years less than 1.2 times his present age. The ratio of age of Q, 6 years hence to the age of R, 4 years ago is 3:2. Find the age of Q, if the age of R is 40% less than the age of P.
Solution
Let the present age of P, Q and R be βpβ, βqβ and βrβ years respectively. p β 5 = 1.2 Γ p β 15 0.2 Γ p = 10 p = 10/0.2 p = 50 years So, age of r = 50 Γ 0.6 = 30 years Also, (q + 6)/(r β 4) = 3/2 q + 6 = (3/2) Γ 26 q = 39 β 6 = 33 yearsΒ
