      Question

Five years ago, age of P was 15 years less than 1.2 times his present age. The ratio of age of Q, 6 years hence to the age of R, 4 years ago is 3:2. Find the age of Q, if the age of R is 40% less than the age of P.

A 30 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 36 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 33 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 48 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Let the present age of P, Q and R be β€˜p’, β€˜q’ and β€˜r’ years respectively. p – 5 = 1.2 Γ— p – 15 0.2 Γ— p = 10 p = 10/0.2 p = 50 years So, age of r = 50 Γ— 0.6 = 30 years Also, (q + 6)/(r – 4) = 3/2 q + 6 = (3/2) Γ— 26 q = 39 – 6 = 33 yearsΒ
