(x – 3) years ago, the age of the mother was 54 years. The ratio of the present age of the father and the mother is (2x - 1):(x + 9) respectively. The mother is 6 years younger than the father. The present ages of the daughter and the son are y years and (y – 6) years respectively. The father and mother got married (3x + 2) years ago. The daughter was born (x/2) years after their marriage. Find the sum of the present ages of the father and the son in years. 

(x - 3) years ago, age of mother = 54 years

So present age of mother = 54 + (x - 3) = (x + 51) years

So present age of father = x + 51 + 6 = (x + 57) years

(2x - 1)(x + 51) = (x + 57)(x + 9)

2x² + 102x - x - 51 = x² + 57x + 9x + 513

x² + 35x - 564 = 0

(x - 12)(x + 47) = 0

x = -47 or x = 12

But, age cannot be negative

So, x = 12

Present age of mother = x + 51 = 12 + 51 = 63 years

Present age of Father = x + 57 = 12 + 57 = 69 years

So, present age of the daughter age = (3 × 12 + 2) - (12/2) = 38 - 6 = 32 years

Present age of son = 32 - 6 = 26 years

Required total = 69 + 26 = 95 years
