      Let the present age of Karan = y years

      Then, present age of Tarun = (60 - y) years

      According to the question,

      (y - 3):(60 - y - 3) = 4:5

      ⇒ 5(y - 3) = 4(57 - y)

      ⇒ 5y - 15 = 228 - 4y

      ⇒ 9y = 243

      ⇒ y = 243 ÷ 9 = 27

      So, present age of Tarun = 60 - 27 = 33 years
