7:9. After 4 years, their ages will be in the ratio 11:13. What was X’s age 6 years before now?
A 28 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 13 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 38 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

Let present ages of X and Y be 7x and 9x.

      ATQ:

      (7x + 4)/(9x + 4) = 11/13

      ⇒ 13(7x + 4) = 11(9x + 4)

      ⇒ 91x + 52 = 99x + 44

      ⇒ x = 1

      So, present age of X = 7x = 7 years

      X’s age 6 years ago = 7 – 6 = 1 year
