      Question

The sum of the present age of 'B' and 'V' is 45 years. If

the ratio of the age of 'B' and 'V' after 10 years is 6:7 respectively, then find the age of 'V' 5 years ago from now.
A 25 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 15 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 20 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D None of the above Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

Let the age of 'B' and 'V' after 10 years be 6x years and 7x years respectively.

      So, the present age of 'B' = (6x - 10) years

      So, the present age of 'V' = (7x - 10) years

      ATQ, Or, 6x - 10 + 7x - 10 = 45

      Or, 13x - 20 = 45

      So, 13x = 65

      So, 'x' = 5

      The present age of 'V' = (7 X 5 - 10) = 25 years

      Therefore, age of 'V' 5 years ago from now = 25 - 5 = 20 years
