Question
The sum of the present age of 'B' and 'V' is 45 years. If
the ratio of the age of 'B' and 'V' after 10 years is 6:7 respectively, then find the age of 'V' 5 years ago from now.Solution
Let the age of 'B' and 'V' after 10 years be 6x years and 7x years respectively.
So, the present age of 'B' = (6x - 10) years
So, the present age of 'V' = (7x - 10) years
ATQ, Or, 6x - 10 + 7x - 10 = 45
Or, 13x - 20 = 45
So, 13x = 65
So, 'x' = 5
The present age of 'V' = (7 X 5 - 10) = 25 years
Therefore, age of 'V' 5 years ago from now = 25 - 5 = 20 years
