years from now, the ratio of the ages of V and K will be 5:9. Also, in 6 years, A's age will be 30 years. Based on this information, find the sum of the present ages of A and K.
A 40 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 65 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 60 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 56 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 70 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Let A be 'a' years older than V and 'a' years younger than K. Present age of A = 30 - 6 = 24 years So, present age of V = (24 - a) years And, present age of K = (24 + a) years ATQ, (28 - a) /(28 + a) = (5/9) Or, 9 X (28 + a) = 5 X (28 - a) Or, 252 + 9a = 140 - 5a Or, 252 - 140 = 9a + 5a Or, 14a = 112 So, 'a' = 8 Also, the present age of K = (24 + 8) = 32 years Therefore, required sum = 32 + 24 = 56 years
