Priya’s father’s age = (4p + 5) years Priya’s mother’s age = (4p + 5) - 9 = (4p - 4) years ATQ: (4p + 5) : (4p - 4) = 27 : 24 Or, 24 × (4p + 5) = 27 × (4p - 4) Or, 96p + 120 = 108p - 108 Or, 12p = 228 Or, 'p' = 19 Present age of Priya’s father = 4 × 19 + 5 = 81 years Present age of Karan = 19 - 2 = 17 years Required sum = (81 - 6) + (17 - 6) = 75 + 11 = 86 years
