Question
Determine the ratio of the present ages of Chintu to
Danny if, 12 years ago, the ratio of Sunita's age to Binita's age was 9:5, and Sunita's age, 6 years from now, will be 35% more than Binita's age, 8 years from now. The average present age of Sunita and Chintu is 45 years, while the average present age of Binita and Danny is 44 years.Solution
We can say that age of Sunita and Binita 12 years ago be 9a years and 5a years respectively. According to question; (9a + 18) = 1.35 × (5a + 20) 9a + 18 = 6.75a + 27 2.25a = 9 a = 4 Present age of Sunita and Binita is 48 years and 32 years respectively. So, present age of Chintu and Danny is 42 years and 56 years respectively So, desired ratio = 42:56 = 3:4
