    Question

    A is 6 years older than B who is twice as old as C. The

    total sum of the ages of A, B and C is 46. How old is B?
    A 16 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 25 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 12 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 20 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the present age of C be x years. Now, B’s age will be = 2x And A’s age will be = (6+ 2x) According to the question, => A + B + C = 46 => (6 + 2x) + 2x + x = 46 => 5x = 40 => x = 8 Therefore the age of B = 2 × 8 = 16 years
