Under Section 25C of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, a workman laid off, who has completed not less than one year of continuous service, is entitled to compensation equal to -

Section 25C confers a right to lay-off compensation: a workman, other than a badli or casual workman, whose name is on the muster rolls and who has completed not less than one year of continuous service, is entitled, when laid off, to compensation equal to fifty per cent of the total of the basic wages and dearness allowance that would have been payable had he not been laid off. The proviso provides that if, during a period of twelve months, a workman is laid off for more than forty-five days, no compensation is payable for the period after the expiry of the first forty-five days, if there is an agreement to that effect between the workman and the employer.
