Under Section 4 of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, every industrial establishment employing twenty or more workers shall constitute one or more Grievance Redressal Committees, the total membership of which shall not exceed:

Section 4(1) of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 mandates that every industrial establishment employing twenty or more workers shall have one or more Grievance Redressal Committees for resolution of disputes arising out of individual grievances, comprising equal numbers of employer and worker representatives, per Section 4(2). Section 4(4) fixes the total membership at not exceeding ten - an increase from the six-member cap that applied to Grievance Redressal Committees under the corresponding provision of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 - while proviso to Section 4(4) additionally requires adequate representation of women workers in proportion to their share of the total workforce. Section 4(5) and (6) allow an aggrieved worker to file an application within one year of the cause of action arising, with the Committee required to complete proceedings within thirty days of receiving the application.
