The Government approved a new programme called 'National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementary Level (NPEGEL)'as an amendment to the scheme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) for providing additional components for the education of girls at the elementary level. The NPEGEL will form part of SSA and will be implemented under the umbrella of SSA but with a distinct identity.
