Exam Pattern

The selection process for NIACL Assistant consists of various phases. There are three main phases where the first two phases will consist of online tests. The two phases will be Prelims and Mains. The candidates who are able to clear the Mains exam, will be further shortlisted for the third phase which will be a Regional Language Test. The first two phases will be online objective tests with multiple choice questions (MCQs). Let us look into the complete details of the NIACL Assistant exam pattern.

Prelims Exam Pattern

The NIACL Assistant Prelims will be the first stage of the examination process. It will be an online objective test of 100 marks. It will consist of questions from three subjects: Reasoning, English Language & Numerical Ability. Candidates will have to secure passing marks in each section. • Sectional timings will be set with 20 minutes to be provided for each section.
• There will be negative marking of 1/4th marks for every incorrect answer.
• There will not be any penalty for unattempted questions.

Mains Exam Pattern

After the Preliminary exam, the candidates who pass this stage will be required to appear in Phase 2 - Mains. This stage will also have an online objective test with MCQs. The questions will be based on four subjects: Reasoning, English Language, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge & Numerical Ability. The Mains exam will carry a total of 250 marks whereas the number of questions will be 200. The distribution of marks will be equal for all sections unlike Prelims. • There will be negative marking of 1/4th marks for every incorrect answer.
• There will be a composite time duration of 120 minutes in this phase unlike in Phase 1.

Regional Language Test

The candidates who qualify in the Mains exam will be called for the Regional Language Test. no marks will be allotted to this test. It will be qualifying in nature. This test will be conducted at selected centres that will be notified by the company. Qualifying this test is important for the final selection.

Marking Scheme

The NIACL Assistant exam will be conducted in two main phases: Prelims & Mains. Both these phases will consist of online objective tests which will have multiple choice questions based on various subjects/topics. 

• Phase 1 will consist of 100 questions carrying 1 mark each.
• Phase 2 will consist of 200 questions carrying 1.25 marks each.
• There will be negative marking in both the phases.
• 1/4th of the total marks allotted to a question will be deducted for an incorrect attempt. 

Exam Language

The NIACL Assistant exam will be held in online mode. Both Prelims & Mains will be objective. Phase 1 or Prelims will test the knowledge of the candidates on the basis of various subjects. 

• All the tests/sections except English Language will be available in both English and Hindi.
• This will be applicable to both Prelims & Mains.
