IBPS, the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, operates independently as a recruitment body responsible for selecting eligible Indian candidates for various positions within different banking organizations in the country. The institute conducts online examinations annually to fill vacancies in both commercial and rural banks.
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the RRB recruitment every year for posts like Clerk, PO, Scale 2, and Scale 3 Officers. For 2025, the IBPS RRB Scale 3 notification has been released, and it clearly mentions the eligibility rules that every candidate must meet to apply.

To apply for the IBPS RRB Scale 3 Officer (Senior Manager) post, you must meet the educational qualification set by IBPS. This ensures that candidates have the right knowledge and background for the job role.
As per the IBPS RRB 2025 notification, you must have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Candidates with a degree/diploma in fields like banking, finance, marketing, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry, veterinary science, agricultural engineering, pisciculture, agricultural marketing and cooperation, information technology, management, law, economics, or accountancy will be given preference.
Along with the degree, you must also have minimum 5 years of work experience as an Officer in a bank or financial institution.

IBPS RRB Scale 3 Age Criteria
Along with the educational qualification, candidates must also meet the age criteria set by IBPS to apply for the RRB Officer Scale 3 (Senior Manager) post.
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 40 years
This means only candidates who fall within this age range as per the cut-off date mentioned in the official notification are eligible to apply.
The age bracket ensures that applicants have the required maturity and professional experience for handling the responsibilities of a Senior Manager in Regional Rural Banks.
Note: Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Government of India guidelines.

IBPS RRB Scale 3 Age Relaxation
Along with the fixed age criteria of 21 to 40 years, candidates belonging to certain reserved categories are entitled to relaxation in the upper age limit as per the Government of India guidelines. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories are given a relaxation of 5 years, while candidates from the Other Backward Classes (OBC–Non Creamy Layer) category are eligible for a relaxation of 3 years.
Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) enjoy a relaxation of up to 10 years in the upper age limit. Ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen are also eligible for relaxation. For them, the actual period of service rendered in the defence forces is added to 3 years, subject to a maximum age of 50 years. In the case of disabled ex-servicemen from SC/ST categories, this relaxation extends to 8 years.
Furthermore, widows, divorced women, and women who are legally separated from their husbands but have not remarried can avail of a relaxation of 9 years in the upper age limit. Candidates affected by the 1984 riots are entitled to 5 years of relaxation.
It is important to note that candidates claiming age relaxation must produce valid and original documents to support their claim at the time of the interview.
