    IBPS RRB Scale 2 Educational Criteria 2025 

    To apply for the IBPS RRB Scale 2 exam 2025, candidates must meet the educational qualification requirements given in the official notification. Failing to meet these criteria will lead to cancellation of the application. These rules ensure that candidates have the right knowledge and skills for the job. Basic computer knowledge, including the use of MS Office (Word and Excel), is also required for all posts.

    The Scale 2 exam is held for two categories – General Banking Officer (GBO) and Specialist Officer (SO). The educational criteria for both are different.

    For the General Banking Officer (GBO) post, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Preference is given to those with degrees in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, or Accountancy. Work experience of at least two years as an officer in a bank or financial institution is also needed.

    For the Specialist Officer (SO) posts, specific qualifications are required:

    • Agriculture Officer – Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy Science, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Forestry, Pisciculture, or Agricultural Engineering.
    • Marketing Officer – MBA in Marketing.
    • Treasury Manager – Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA in Finance.
    • Law Officer – Degree in Law with two years’ experience as an advocate or in a legal department of a bank or financial institution.
    • Chartered Accountant – Certified Associate from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India with one year of experience.
    • IT Officer – Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with one year of experience.

    Candidates must ensure they meet the exact qualification for their chosen stream before applying.

    Desirable: Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc.

    IBPS RRB Scale 2 Officer Age Criteria 

    Along with the educational requirements, candidates must also meet the age criteria to be eligible for the IBPS RRB Scale 2 exam 2025. The age will be calculated as per the date mentioned in the official notification, and the date of birth should match the details given in valid documents such as the Aadhaar card, birth certificate, or school mark sheet.

    Any mismatch between the application form and official documents can lead to cancellation of the candidature.

    For the Officer Scale 2 post, a candidate must be at least 21 years old and not more than 32 years old. This means the candidate should have been born not earlier than 3rd August 1993 and not later than 31st July 2004, both dates inclusive.

    Certain categories are given age relaxation as per government rules. For example, candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, ex-servicemen, and other reserved categories can avail relaxation in the upper age limit. The exact relaxation details are provided in the notification.

    Age Relaxation for IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2

    Once you are well inclined with the age required for the IBPS RRB Scale 2 Exam, it is also important for you to know that there is a rule of giving age relaxation to some selected reserved categories. Yes, you read that right.

    Age relaxations are provided to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. Age relaxation means, some candidates can refrain from fulfilling the necessity of the upper age limit criteria. They can apply for this exam, based on the relaxation of some years given to them which will be mentioned in the official notification.

    This relaxation can be from 5 years to 2 years. In other words, candidates from the reserved category do not necessarily have to be 30 years of age, they can be 33 or 35 based on the relaxations given in the notification.  

    IBPS RRB provides an upper age limit relaxation to certain categories as specified by the Government. Candidates eligible for the age relaxation need to produce the respective certificates at the time of selection. Without the original certificates, the relaxation will not be applicable.
