Four of the following five alike in a certain way based
on their seating positions and hence form a group. Which of the following is different from the group? Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions. Ten persons are sitting in a row containing five persons each. In row 1, Amrita, Sonam, Suman, Rita and Rachna are sitting in and all of them facing south. In row 2, Mansi, Aarti, Deepa, Kajal and Piya are sitting in and all of them facing north. In the given seating arrangement, each member sitting in a row faces another member of the row. Each of them likes different channels, viz. Star Plus, Zee TV , Colours, Life OK, Gemini TV, ETV, Sony Pal, Star Maa, Sony and Sun TV, but not necessarily in the same order. Sonam is not sitting at the extreme left end. Mansi does not like Sony. There is only one person sitting between Suman and Rita, who likes Star Plus. Kajal likes ETV and is an immediate neighbour of the one who likes Sun TV. He doesn’t face the one who likes Colours. There are only two persons sitting between the one who likes Star Plus, who sits at the extreme end, and Rachna. Mansi, who sits in the middle of the row, is not an immediate neighbour of Aarti, who does not like Sun TV. Deepa, likes Life OK, is an immediate neighbour of the one who likes Sony, who is facing an immediate neighbour of the one who likes Gemini TV. There are two persons between the one who likes Sony Pal and the one who likes Colours. Sonam does not like Sony Pal. Piya does not like Star Maa and is sitting at an extreme end. Rachna likes Gemini TV and sits on the immediate right of the one who likes Zee TV. He faces the immediate neighbour of Aarti.Solution
(i) Sonam is not sitting at the extreme left end. Mansi does not like Sony. There is only one person sitting between Suman and Rita, who likes Star Plus. Kajal likes ETV and is an immediate neighbour of the one who likes Sun TV. (ii) He doesn’t face the one who likes Colours. There are only two persons sitting between the one who likes Star Plus, who sits at the extreme end, and Rachna. Mansi, who sits in the middle of the row, is not an immediate neighbour of Aarti, who does not like Sun TV. (iii) Deepa, likes Life OK, is an immediate neighbour of the one who likes Sony, who is facing an immediate neighbour of the one who likes Gemini TV. (iv) There are two persons between the one who likes Sony Pal and the one who likes Colours. Sonam does not like Sony Pal. (v) Piya does not like Star Maa and is sitting at an extreme end. Rachna likes Gemini TV and sits on the immediate right of the one who likes Zee TV. He faces the immediate neighbour of Aarti.
