To be in opposite directions, they must be 30 minutes spaces apart. ∴ Minute hand will have to gain 45 minutes spaces. 55 minutes spaces are gained in 60 minutes. 45 minutes spaces are gained in (60/55×45) min or 49*1/11 min ∴ Required time = 49*1/11 min past 3.
