Question
Find the distance between the parallel sides of a trapezium
whose area is 315 cm² and the lengths of the parallel sides are 15 cm and 21 cm respectively.Solution
ATQ,
Let the distance between parallel sides of trapezium be 'd' cm.
Area of trapezium = (1/2) × (sum of parallel sides) × (distance between parallel sides)
So, (1/2) × (15 + 21) × d = 315
Or, (1/2) × 36 × d = 315
Or, 18 × d = 315
Or, distance between parallel sides = 315 ÷ 18 = 17.5 cm
