Question
Length of a train is three-fourths of the length of a
platform. If the train crosses the platform in 63 seconds, then find the time taken by train to cross a pole.Solution
Let the speed of train be 'v' m/s and the length of platform be '4L' metres.
Length of train = (3/4) X 4L = '3L' metres
So, (4L + 3L) = '63v'
Or, 7L = 63v
So, 'L' = 9v ---------- (I)
Required time = (3L/v)
= (27v/v) [from equation (I) ]
= 27 seconds
Hence, option c.
