    Question

    The length of train 'P' is 'c' metres and that of train 'Q'

    is (c + 90) metres. If the speeds of train 'P' and 'Q' are 48 km/h and 60 km/h, respectively, and they take 10 seconds to cross each other while travelling in opposite directions, then find the length of train 'P'.
    A 125 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 176 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 150 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 105 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Speed of train 'P' = 48 Γ— (5/18) = 13.33 m/s

    Speed of train 'Q' = 60 Γ— (5/18) = 16.67 m/s

    ATQ;

    {(90 + 2c)/(13.33 + 16.67)} = 10

    Or, 90 + 2c = 300

    Or, 2c = 210

    Or, c = 105

    So, length of train 'P' = 105 metres
