    Question

    Two vans ‘K’ and ‘L’ start at the same time from

    towns ‘G’ and ‘H’ towards each other. When they meet after 6 hours, van ‘L’ has travelled 96 km more than van ‘K’. What is the distance covered by van ‘K’ in 4 hours if the total distance between the towns is 576 km?
    A 190 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 160 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 140 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 120 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Let distance travelled by van ‘K’ at the time of meet = x km

    So, distance travelled by van ‘L’ at the time of meet = x + 96 km

    According to question;

    x + x + 96 = 576

    Or, 2x = 480

    Or, x = 240

    Distance travelled by van ‘K’ in 6 hours = 240 km

    Speed of van ‘K’ = 240 / 6 = 40 km/h

    Distance travelled by van ‘K’ in 4 hours = 40 × 4 = 160 km
