      Question

      Train A, running at 36 km/h, crosses a pole in 10

      seconds. Find the time taken to cross another train which is twice as long as Train A, coming from the opposite direction at 54 km/h.
      A 10 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      B 11 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      C 12 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      D 13 seconds Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Speed of Train A = 36 ├Ч 5/18 = 10 m/s
      Length of Train A = 10 ├Ч 10 = 100 m
      Length of Train B = 2 ├Ч 100 = 200 m
      Speed of Train B = 54 ├Ч 5/18 = 15 m/s
      Total length = 100 + 200 = 300 m
      Relative speed = 10 + 15 = 25 m/s
      Time = 300 / 25 = 12 seconds
