A train takes 18 seconds to cross a platform and 6
seconds to cross a pole. If the length of the train is 70 metres less than the length of the platform, then find the length of the platform.(Calculate approx. value)Solution
ATQ, Let the speed of the train be ‘x’ m/s. Length of the train = 6 × x = ‘6x’ metres So, length of the platform = (6x + 70) metres ATQ; (6x + 70 + 6x) ÷ 18 = x Or, 12x + 70 = 18x Or, 70 = 6x So, x = 11.67 Therefore, length of the platform = (11.67 × 6) + 70 = 140 metres
