    Two trains ‘A’ and ‘B’ started from station

    ‘P’ and ‘Q’ towards station ‘Q’ and ‘P’ respectively at the same time. When they met after 14 hours, train ‘B’ has travelled 120 km more than train ‘A’. Find the distance travelled by train ‘A’ in 12 hours if distance between both stations is 400 km.

    Let distance travelled by train ‘A’ at the time of meet = ‘x’ km So, distance travelled by train ‘B’ at the time of meet = ‘x + 120’ km According to question; x + x + 120 = 400 => 2x = 280 => x = 140 Distance travelled by train ‘A’ in 14 hours = 140 km Speed of train ‘A’ = 140/14 = 10 km/h Distance travelled by train ‘A’ in 12 hours = 12 × 10 = 120 km
