Question
There are two trains A and B. A start from point
X at 6 AM towards point Y. Another train B starts at 7 AM from point X. If they meet at 8 AM and speed of A is 50 km/hr, while that of B is 45 km/hr. Find distance between X and Y.Solution
Speed of train A = 50 kmph
Speed of train B = 45 kmph
Time taken by train A to meet train B at 8 AM = 2 hrs
Time taken by train B to meet train A at 8 AM = 1 hrs
Distance travelled by train A = 2 × 50 = 100 km
Distance travelled by train B = 1 × 45 = 45 km
Therefore, total distance between X and Y = 100 + 45 = 145 km
