Let the efficiency of a boy be 'B' units/day and the efficiency of a man be 'M' units/day we have, (2M + 5B) X 8 = (3M + 4B) X 6 Or, 16M + 40B = 18M + 24B Or, 16B = 2M So, B:M = 1:8 So, let B = '1a' and M = '8a' Total work = (2 X 8a + 5 X 1a) X 8 = '168a' units So, time taken by 7 boys together to complete the work = 168a ÷ (7 X 1a) = 24 daysÂ
